Job Description*

Cast Iron Systems Field Services team is looking for a customer facing, highly motivated and experienced Systems Architect. This position provides the opportunity to work with new and groundbreaking technology, latest industry and technology trends, and delivering value to our customers. This position is suited for a highly motivated and energetic individual with a desire to design high quality solutions in an inspiring and challenging environment.

Essential Job Functions & Skills

  • 10+ years of industry experience
  • Extensive experience in systems integration from an architectural and development standpoint
  • Experience with project lifecycles from conception through to delivery
  • Understand issues regarding scalability, reliability and performance optimization within distributed architectures
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Excellent written and communication skills

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engage with customers to understand their integration requirements and design the appropriate solution.
  • Work effectively with customers, partners and colleagues and develop strong working relationships.
  • Contribute to established best practices through experience garnered from customer engagements.
  • Effectively manage time and people to deliver project components.
  • Provide status reports and raise issues on a timely basis. Utilize extended CI resources effectively (sales, engineering, product marketing, etc.)
  • Author and deliver Design Documents, Statements of Work, white papers, and knowledgebase articles.
  • Support sales efforts by looking for opportunities to increase sales of Cast Iron Systems products and services.

Customer Management & Customer Experience Skills:

  • Strong communication and customer focus skills – must be able to define customer problems and articulate current situation to customers
  • A track record of exceeding customer expectations
  • Experience with project management and requirements gathering techniques

Technology Skills:

  • Expertise in four or more of the following:
    • EAI, middleware, or other integration experience at the enterprise level (TIBCO, webMethods, BEA WebLogic, J2EE/JMS)
    • ERP integration experience (Oracle Applications, SAP, PeopleSoft, JDE, Baan, QAD, Siebel, or other CRM)
    • Telecommunications, Financial Services, Manufacturing, Chemicals, Automotive
    • E-Commerce (Portal Applications, B2C, B2C, B2E or other)
    • EDI, FlatFile, FTP, Secure FTP, SSL, RosettaNet, ebXML, Ariba.
    • Guaranteed delivery, error handling, re-submission, high availability architectures, clustering
    • Business Process Management – understanding of different industries and common business processes in industries
    • Human Work Flow and long-lived processes
  • Significant depth of experience in two or more of the following areas:
    • RDBMS (any of Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Sybase, and Informix). Strong understanding of databases, distributed objects, guaranteed delivery and performance optimization techniques. Working knowledge of SQL, triggers, PL/SQL stored procedures.
    • XML technologies including DTD, XSLT, XPATH, XSD and XQuery. Development using XML, HTTP/S, Web Services, SOAP, SOA, WSM, Security
    • Experience with mapping tools, flat-files parsers, batch processing, messaging
    • Java/C++/object oriented programming and distributed computing
    • Unix/Linux, NT, AS400 experience

Travel:

  • Willingness to travel (up to 80%).

Education Level

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar technical degree
