View, CA, July 19, 2006 — Cast Iron Systems, the fastest growing integration appliance vendor, today announced that Ram Gupta, the company's president and CEO, will present at SD Forum's Software Engineering Management meeting on Thursday, July 20.
For his presentation, "So, You Want to Be a CEO?," Gupta will draw upon his 20 years of technology industry experience to provide attendees with insight and strategies for crossing the chasm from engineering to general management. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and is located at SAP's Palo Alto, Calif. facilities.
The appliances synchronize valuable Salesforce suite data across the enterprise, making it easily accessible to different groups and applications in real time. Integration projects are accelerated because the need for software coding is eliminated through the use of built-in technology optimized for all major applications and endpoints including Lawson, JD Edwards, PeopleSoft, SAP, Oracle, Sybase, MS-SQL Server, Informix, DB2, flat-files (FTP/HTTP), XML and web services.
At Cast Iron Systems, Gupta is leading the drive toward a new cost- and time-saving appliance-based approach to application integration. He will share lessons learned from fast-paced global technology companies such as PeopleSoft, WebMD, Silicon Graphics, IBM and Tata Consultancy Services. In his previous role as executive vice president at PeopleSoft, Gupta was instrumental in taking the company from primarily a national human-resources-applications vendor to the second largest vendor of application suites worldwide. During this time the market capitalization of the company grew from $3 billion to more than $10 billion. Gupta was also the executive in charge of the company's $1.8 billion acquisition of JD Edwards that launched the consolidation trend in the ERP industry.
In addition to his role at Cast Iron Systems, Gupta currently serves on the board of directors at S1 Corporation, VA Software, Plateau Systems and Accruent Inc. He holds several patents in the U.S. and was awarded the Smithsonian Computer World "Search for the Heroes" Award for the year 2000.
