Cast Iron Systems More Than Doubles Sales of Integration Appliances in Q3 2006

Appliances Built Specifically for On-Demand Applications Fuel Triple-Digit Growth

Mountain View, CA, October 2, 2006 —Cast Iron Systems, the fastest growing integration appliance vendor, significantly expanded its customer base in the third quarter of the year by increasing sales 120 percent over the second quarter. This significant increase in sales reinforces the broad appeal of Cast Iron's appliance-based approach.

Several factors contributed to this quarter's sales growth. For example during the third quarter, Cast Iron expanded its series of appliances to include models specifically designed to integrate salesforce.com with other enterprise applications. Cast Iron also saw almost half of its new customers opt for its recently announced subscription-based pricing model.

"Many of our new customers view Cast Iron as an extension of their on-demand system," said Ram Gupta, president and CEO of Cast Iron Systems. "Not surprisingly, these customers were captivated by the industry's first subscription-based pricing for integration, which perfectly matches the pricing model of the on-demand world."

"Lowering the cost of integration is as important as containing costs elsewhere in application deployment," said Denis Pombriant, managing principal of Beagle Research Group. "The availability of simple, low-cost solutions for complex integration problems will drive a new level of integration for business processes in all sizes of companies."

The sharp increase in sales also marked the success of Cast Iron's daring "On Our Dime" promotion. The company launched the promotion as a guarantee of the integration appliance's immediate return-on-investment.

"We evaluated several options in search of a solution that could integrate many business partners with our SAP system much faster and more simply than our current EDI based solution," said Mike Lawitts, Operations Manager at FL Viscosity Oil Co. "With Cast Iron's integration appliance, we expect to significantly simplify the process and be able to bring new partners online in a matter of days."
